WE’VE PARTNERED WITH HOPE FLOATS FOUNDATION TO PROVIDE LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SWIM LESSONS!

March 2nd 2019

Water Guppies LLC is pleased to announce it has become a Founding Member with Hope Floats Foundation. Together, Hope Floats Foundation and partner swim schools are committed to fundraising and providing scholarships for high-quality swim lessons for low-income children and their families in their communities.

The equivalent of thirteen school buses full of children die each year in the United States due to drowning. Studies at the National Institute of Health show that swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88%.

“There’s a huge need for swim lessons, and the kids that need them the most – lower socio-economic level kids – they’re not getting them,” said Cindy Tonnesen, founder of the Hope Floats Foundation. She continued, “We are saving kids, but there are more we need to reach, and we have the ability and resources to do it.”

Water Guppies is excited to pay it forward and excited to support and offer scholarships for swim lessons in our local community. This is something we have wanted to do for a few years and we are so happy to be partnering with Hope Floats to make this happen!” ~Kristina Hathcock of Water Guppies Swim School located in Arizona~

Hope Floats Foundation began to pilot the scholarship program in September 2017. With 26 partnerships currently secured in 13 states, Hope Floats hopes to serve thousands of children who would not otherwise have access to the life-saving gift of swim lessons. About Water Guppies-Founded in 2016. The most essential survival swimming skill I will teach children is to roll from a face-down position in the water to a face-up independent back float. It is difficult and ineffective for an infant or toddler to lift their head for a breath. If your child falls face down into the water, knowing how to roll onto a face-up back float can save their life! If the baby is walking, then he/she can also learn to swim to the pool edge or steps, rolling over to breathe whenever air is needed.I’m a certified instructor who completed 200 hours of intensive, hands on, in water training to teach this proven method as well as hold a current adult/child/infant CPR/AED & First Aid Certification. My mission is to reduce the number of pediatric drownings and to develop a love for swimming with a focus on competency.
